Dublin, Belfast, Galway. We rented a car at the Dublin airport for five days.

We slept over in the suburbs of Dublin at some Italian guys. Later on, we figured out that they didn’t know how many of us were coming neither when..

.., but they didn’t mind at all and just kept on saying “Enjoy Italian hospitality!” Piedro & Marco.

The Italians took us directly after arrival to some private party..

..full of IBM employees..

At the Italians in the morning.

Dublin City Tour: there are no striking sights to be seen. But much more than in all the other cities we saw later on.. here, the Main Post Office..

.. main shopping street..

..River Liffey and Custom House

..Trinity College -the most famous university in Ireland founded in 1592..

.., but I expected more than just few older houses..

..well, it is not Oxford, but at lest Samuel Beckett studied here.

Grafton St. --the most famous in Dublin.

Streets in the city centre didn’t look like in the capital of one of the richest countries in Europe..but they have some charm I enjoyed.. rough but frank..

St. Patrick's Cathedral..

Christchurch Cathedral - founded by the Vikings in 1038..

Dublin Castle

City centre of Dublin at night..

..Temple Bar, part of the city centre full of pubs and people.. and the best experience in Dublin..

..smoking is not allowed in the pubs anymore, but almost each pub has special courtyard for nicotine addicts – like this one.

Belfast. Not much for tourists actually.. here the main street.. (a friend form Prague was our guide)

..Belfast Cathedral at one end..

..and City Hall at the other.

The best place was Belfast Queens University..

We also intentionally drove in a city quarter where protestant fundamentalists live. Graffiti on the walls like: “Ulster will always remain British. No surrender.”

..Ulster Young Militants..

..guys with riles.. quite frightening as I was driving car with registration plate of the Irish Republic..

Stormont House: the Parliament of Northern Ireland near Belfast.

Decent evening in Dublin.

On the way to the west coast.. driving on the left side is more or less manageable, but I can not recommend you start practising it on the busiest street from the Dublin airport to the city centre as I did..

We wanted to visit some sights during the journey and thus took side roads.. some times smaller than expected. The quality of the roads was really bad - Polish people said that they felt like at home: only few kilometres of motorways and big holes everywhere..

The width of this road was sufficient just for one car .. the road sign indicates suicide speed limit.

The countryside was great! everything was green, stone walls..

This place is exactly in the middle of the island and is called Clonmacnoise..

Finally the west coast..

..we arrived just before sunset..

Green man on the green isle..the jacket way not mine..

Galway, we spent there just around two hours.. there is really not much to see..

..except cosy pubs.

Last evening in Dublin..

..bye guys!
