Lets start with the Moot Court thing.. it took place here..

..in the Institute of International relations..

..quite impressive inside..

..red carpets on floors..

..before some pleading session.

Surprising media coverage.

The city itself is mainly concrete..

..and grey. Brrr.

The most renowned sights are coming: here the Independence Square..

..the other part..

..again - nothing special in my opinion..

..well, there are some exceptions as this is on the square as well.

Underground.

The best part of the city: Churches!

Here St Sophia’s Cathedral from the first half of the 11th century. Protected by UNESCO.

And really charming ! This east European style with golden cupolas was something new for me..

Bell tower of the Cathedral.

The Dnieper River.

St. Andrews Church from 1744. The first symbolic brick of the church was laid by the Russian empress Elizabeth. The whole Moot Court Team is standing on the stairs! You can see that it was cold there -15°C during the day.

We saw a few cosy streets as well. But they are rather the exception than the rule..

Mikhailovskiy Monastery. In 1930 the complex was partially destroyed as it was being rebuilt into a governmental building for Bolsheviks. In 1937 they demolished it altogether. It was restored between 1997 and 2000.

Social life: some Irish pub..

Gala dinner. Many course of traditional Ukrainian cuisine..

And a lot of vodka..

An utterly silly club..

cheap beer at least.

Hair-raising ride to the airport: on the motorway the taxi driver saw traffic jam ahead of us. So he made an U-turn in order to return back to the nearest exit. He simply rode in the wrong direction dogging the traffic coming in the right one.. He scared the 'shit out of me..
